Introducing 9 Tool National
Comprehensive Baseball Development Program for Players that Want More. 5 Tools Identify Talent, 9 Tools Develop the Complete Player
Why We Started 9 Tool National
We saw the dreams. We experienced the journey. We learned what it takes. And we knew there had to be a better way. 9 Tool National wasn’t created simply to put another travel baseball team on the field. It was born from years of firsthand experience, countless lessons learned, sacrifices made, and a realization that too many talented young baseball players have big dreams, but don’t have the right plan or ability to achieve them. Our journey began with our oldest son, Tate. From the time Tate was seven years old, we traveled the same road that thousands of baseball families travel every year. The practices, tournaments, private lessons, long weekends, financial commitments, and endless decisions about what was best for his development. That journey eventually took Tate to the Division I level, playing at the University of Miami and Baylor University. But getting there wasn’t easy, and it certainly wasn’t a straight line. Along the way, we encountered some outstanding coaches, trainers, and baseball people who made an incredible difference. We also made mistakes. We trusted some of the wrong people, invested in things that didn’t produce results, and learned that just because a player is on a good travel baseball team doesn’t necessarily mean he’s on the right path to becoming the player he dreams of being. We quickly realized that there was a difference between playing travel baseball and truly developing a baseball player. And that difference changed everything.
Big Dreams Require More Than Tournaments
Over the years, we watched and heard from countless young players with tremendous potential and aspirations of playing college or professional baseball. What concerned us wasn’t their talent or their ambition. It was the lack of a comprehensive plan to get them there. Too often, families were spending thousands of dollars traveling from tournament to tournament, hoping that exposure alone would open doors. Meanwhile, critical pieces of player development were being overlooked. Proper instruction. Strength and conditioning. Measurable progress. Advanced technology. Mental preparation. Understanding the recruiting process. Knowing what college coaches and professional scouts actually look for. All of these things matter. And while there are some excellent baseball organizations doing things the right way, finding the right combination of resources can be overwhelming for parents. We know because we lived it. We had to seek out the right instructors, find the right training methods, learn which technology actually helped, and build relationships with people who understood what it takes to compete at the highest levels. It took years, a tremendous financial investment, and plenty of trial and error. We began asking ourselves a simple question: Why should every family have to figure all of this out on their own?
Turning Experience Into a Blueprint
Today, we have a second son, Simon, who is following his own baseball journey. And here’s what we’ve realized. Simon is better prepared at 14 than Tate was at the same age. Not because he necessarily has more talent, but because we now understand the process. We know what to prioritize, what to avoid, when to introduce certain training, and how to measure whether a player is truly progressing. We have developed what we believe is a blueprint for giving a serious baseball player the best opportunity to reach his potential. That blueprint became the foundation of 9 Tool National. We also drew from our own playing experiences. Having come extremely close to an opportunity in professional baseball, we understand firsthand how much the right coaching, at the right time, can change a player’s future. Some extraordinary coaches went out of their way to help us improve, but some of that guidance came late in the journey. That experience created a personal commitment: If a young player needs help developing a particular part of his game, we will do everything within our power to find the people, knowledge, and resources to help him improve. That philosophy is at the heart of everything we’re building.
Why 9 Tools?
Baseball has traditionally identified talent through five tools: hitting for average, hitting for power, running speed, arm strength, and fielding ability. Those five tools help identify a player’s natural abilities. But we’ve learned that talent alone isn’t enough. Developing the complete player requires much more than identifying what he can already do. It requires understanding what he needs to improve, building an individualized plan, surrounding him with the right people, and giving him the resources and accountability to get better. That’s why we created 9 Tool National. We believe in combining high-level baseball instruction, individualized development, strength and athletic performance, advanced technology and measurable data, mental preparation, and guidance through the college recruiting process. Not as disconnected services that families have to find on their own, but as parts of one comprehensive developmental program. We want our players to understand not just where they are today, but what it will take to get where they want to go.
Making the Journey Better for Players and Families
For years, we’ve received phone calls from parents asking questions about travel baseball, player development, recruiting, training, and what they should be doing to help their sons. Those conversations made something very clear. There is a real need for a program that provides more than a uniform, a tournament schedule, and a place on a roster. Parents need guidance. Players need direction. And serious young athletes deserve access to a development system built around their long-term goals. We’re not claiming to have all the answers, and no program can guarantee a college scholarship or professional career. But we have learned an incredible amount through our own experiences, and we’ve built relationships with exceptional baseball minds who share our passion for developing young players. Now we want to bring those resources together under one organization. Our goal help young athletes build a better understanding of his game, his potential, and the work required to reach the next level. We want to take some of the uncertainty out of the process for parents. We want to help families avoid some of the mistakes we made. And most importantly, we want to give dedicated young baseball players opportunities and resources they might not otherwise have.
This Is More Than Travel Baseball
9 Tool National is being built for the serious baseball player. The player who wants more than simply playing games on weekends. The player who is willing to work, be coached, be evaluated, accept challenges, and commit to getting better. We’re not building an organization that measures success solely by tournament trophies. We’re building an organization that measures success by the development of its players. If a player dreams of playing high school varsity baseball, college baseball, or one day professional baseball, we want to help him understand the path and provide the tools to pursue it. We can’t promise where that journey will end. But we can promise that our focus will be on helping players prepare for it. We started 9 Tool National because we experienced the challenges, discovered what made the difference, and believed there was a better way to bring it all together. We built the program we wish we’d had when our own journey began. And now we’re excited to share it with the next generation of serious baseball players and their families.
